Who we are
VBDH™ is a trading name of Visuals by David Houghton Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 12037649). We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in it at [email protected] or +44 7437 341 749.
What we collect
When you use our contact form we collect what you choose to give us: your name, email address, company, phone number (optional), the type of project, budget range, timeline, your message and how you found us. When you press “Get an exact quote” in our project scoper, we record the choices you made (such as film type, length, crew, extras and the sector you typed in) and the guide price shown. This doesn't include your name or contact details unless you then send the contact form. When you book a call we receive your name, email address and the time you choose. When you email or phone us we keep that correspondence.
Why we use it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, prepare a proposal or quote, arrange calls and, if we work together, to deliver your project and keep proper business records. We use project scoper choices to prepare quotes and to understand what kinds of films people are planning. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and, where we go on to work together, taking steps to enter into and perform a contract with you. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing without asking first.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run the business: our website and form provider (Framekit), our email provider, our call-booking tool (Brevo) and our accounting software if we work together. Each processes data on our behalf under its own data protection terms. If we bring in crew or collaborators for your project, we share only what they need to do the job.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and project scoper records that don't turn into a project are deleted within 24 months of our last contact. If we work together, we keep project and invoicing records for as long as the law requires, usually six years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
